A Case of Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis Causing Hydroureter and Hydronephrosis
Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (GPA, formerly known as Wegener) is a systemic vasculitis characterized by granulomatous involving upper and lower respiratory tract and can also cause necrotizing glomerulonephritis (Umemoto et al. 2012 and Takala et al. 2011). GPA is associated with antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies (ANCA) against serine proteinase 3 (PR3) (Takala et al. 2011, Dufour e...
متن کاملUnilateral Hydronephrosis and Hydroureter by Foreign Body in Urinary Bladder: A Case Report
Foreign bodies inserted through the urethra are often found in the urinary bladder. We presently report the first case of hydronephrosis and hydroureter due to direct compression in the urinary bladder by silicon, which had been introduced by the patient himself 2 yr prior to presentation with severe right flank pain. Computed tomography indicated a convoluted, high-attenuation mass in the urin...
متن کاملLeiomyoma of the bladder causing bilateral hydronephrosis: a case report.
We report a case of bladder leiomyoma with marked bilateral hydronephrosis caused by chronic urinary retention. Surgical finding was that the mass was smooth, fist-sized and had a thin stalk connected to the bladder wall. The tumor was completely removed. Histopathological diagnosis was leiomyoma of the bladder and the post-operative course was uneventful.
متن کاملAscites, a New Cause for Bilateral Hydronephrosis: Case Report
Bilateral hydronephrosis secondary to urinary obstruction leads to a buildup of back pressure in the urinary tract and may lead to impairment of renal function. We present a case of a 57-year-old male with a history of alcoholic liver cirrhosis, who presented with tense ascites and acute renal failure. Bilateral hydronephrosis was seen on abdominal ultrasound. Multiple large-volume paracenteses...
متن کاملNonobstructive Bilateral Hydronephrosis & Hydroureter from Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus with a Novel Mutation of AQP2 Gene (p.A123G)
Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus (NDI) can cause nonobstructive hydronephrosis. Congenital NDI (CNDI) is caused by a genetic mutation. This case report presents a 12-year-old girl who was incidentally diagnosed with nonobstructive hydronephrosis due to NDI caused by AQP2 gene mutation after being evaluated for microscopic hematuria found on routine health examination at school. The patient’s medi...
